Road Trip!

So early Friday morning I received a text message from a friend wondering if I wanted to go on a road trip to Oaxaca (another state about 4 hours away). Why not? So Friday and Saturday I went to Oaxaca with some friends that I have made through OASIS, a campus ministry here. These are my really cool friends- Ceasar, Sarah, me, Alberto, and Angelo.

One of the streets in Oaxaca. I loved this city, and I am definately planning on going back!

My favorite thing about Mexico are the markets, but pictures just won't suffice to explain this experience- the people, the smells, the sounds, and so many things to look at! Oaxaca had one of the best markets. One of the typical foods of Oaxaca are grasshoppers (yes, like the insect). Apparently they are best with a little chile and lime...hmm. Ceasar bought some in the market to try.

I ate a grasshopper...gross!

This is a Tlayuda (a.k.a. the mexican pizza) another typical food in Oaxaca. It is basically a huge (like really big) tortilla with beans, cheese, onions, avocado, salsa, and chicken (or beef).

In Oaxaca we visted the pyramids of Monte Alban. These pyramids were constructed by either the Miztecas or the Zapotecas (I can't remember which!) along time ago (I don't remember exactly when)... but they were really cool!

Help! I'm falling!

Being statues...are we convincing?
