On Monday a couple friends and I decided to take a trip to Chipilo, a small agricultural town that was settled by itallians in the 1850s. The town is only 20 minutes away by bus, and the trip costs about 40 cents. We didn't really know where we were going, so we kept asking people on the bus, "Is this the stop for Chipilo?" Once we got off the bus, we weren't sure if we were in the right town, so we asked a storekeeper, "Are we in Chipilo?" Well, the town is easy to miss, and there isn't much to see in Chipilo. Like any mexican town, there is the main church in the center of town.

They don't have many tourists in Chipilo. We recieved alot of odd stares. This is a view of the town from a big hill near the church.

At the top of the hill is a monument to commemorate the founders of Chipilo. The writing is in itallian! That's kinda cool.

Another view of the city from the top of the hill.

Chipilo does have itallian food! After a nice itallian lunch, we enjoyed some gelato at this little cafe. There are also little stores that sell homemade cheese and pasta. Yum!
